The OFS installed the largest deluge system installed in the Southern Hemisphere, consisting of 624 nozzles.

The C-17 Maintenance Facility, Aircraft Apron and Associated Infrastructure Project involved the construction of a new maintenance facility, aircraft apron and explosive ordnance facilities which allows 36 Squadron to conduct both scheduled and unscheduled operational level maintenance on their C-17A heavy airlift fleet, it was also sized to accommodate a KC-30A multi-role tanker/transport aircraft. 

The Maintenance Facility consisted of a hangar to accommodate a single C-17A aircraft, logistics warehouse, specialist workshops, offices, amenities, dangerous goods store and ground support equipment facility.

Scope of Work:

The Fire Services scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and defects liability maintenance of the following systems:

  • Automatic fire detection system including smoke and heat detectors
  • Multi-point Aspirating Smoke Detection Systems (MASDS)
  • Building Occupant Warning System (BOWS)
  • Portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets
  • Hydrocarbon detection system
  • Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Automatic Fire Sprinkler Deluge System
  • Fire Water Storage concrete tank (effective capacity 2.25Ml) including tank chlorination system
  • Fire Water Booster pumps (demand 42,952L/min @ 585kPa) for the Fire Sprinkler Deluge System
